Out With the Old, in With the New:
Goodbyenary Code 2025
BP’s most personal & vulnerable album
In 2012, I made an album called “Goodbyenary Code” as a literal teenager. It was rough around the edges, but it was special as hell to me. It was influential to my artistic journey and shaped every album thereafter.
I quietly uploaded it to Bandcamp, told a few friends about it, and that was it. It was never put on streaming, never put on a CD, never really got its flowers.
Even when I eventually took it off the internet to shed this more “amateur” sound, I knew this album wouldn’t stay dead.
I can’t quite explain to you why this album is so important to me, but I’ll try.
This album speaks to specific feelings that I think most people have encountered in their life. It’s about unrequited love, feeling like an outcast, or knowing that within a sunny day is a twinge of sadness.
If you’ve lived a bunch of your life in your head, this album will be an immense comfort to you. It’s an escapist fantasy world for the (former) optimistic loner. It was my teddy bear at the time, and now it can be yours.
So, why am I talking about this album now?
I never quite knew when or if Goodbyenary Code would ever get its second life. The time never felt right - any time I considered revisiting it, a voice in my head would say “c’mon man, that’s done with. Let’s write some new stuff.”
But that’s when I found it. A Korg EX-800, rusty and leaning on it’s side behind some other stuff in a Nashville pawn shop. It was a vintage synth that I had owned as a kid, and one of the main instruments I used when making Goodbyenary Code.
That’s when I realized it was time. I reclaimed the synth, brought it home, and used it not to simply remaster the old album, but to recreate it holistically from scratch, molecule by molecule.
So, that’s what I did.
Both Versions of the Album on One Insane Double Disc CD Package
Once I finished the new version of the album, there was a bit of a puzzle before me. How were these two versions of the album supposed to coexist? Or…should they not?
The whole point of this re-recording was to take this old album and make it a canonical, mainline Basic Printer album that could be eternalized in the discography…
…but the old version is not just some outdated trash to be thrown out and replaced. It’s an intensely special recording with a youth and lo-fi grit that could never ever be replicated.
So, here’s what I decided to do:
This initial CD release for the album will be on just 100 exclusive double discs, with the old version on one disc, and the new on the other.
The new version will live on - it will be pressed again on different formats, in different ways…but the old version will only ever exist within these 100 CD sets.
This seemed like the perfect way to finally give the old version a proper release while also moving forward from it. Honestly, this double disc is pretty poetic because it’s both a funeral for an old album and the birth of a new one.
You are one of the worthy few that understand the meaning of this older recording, and in a way, I’m trusting you to secure these copies for safekeeping. After this, the old album will only exist on my hard drive and these 100 CDs.

I have been making music for 15 years, with this album being a key point in my artistic journey. To have you interested in my works all this while is nothing short of a miracle.
In truth, BP took a massive hit financially from the last tour we went on with Under the Rug in the fall of 2024. The release of this new album is both a celebration of all the music I’ve created for over a decade while also being a CRUCIAL fundraising opportunity to keep BP afloat.
This CD is, by far, the most jam-packed CD release I’ve ever put out. I’m very happy I can give you something so cool to enjoy, but know that when you secure your copy, it’s more than simply having the set - you’re also providing a BP with a lifeline.
So thank you, thank you, thank you. I can never say it enough, and I can only ever trust that you feel my gratitude.
Stay weird.
